Diabetic Foot Problems

Diabetic InfectionInfection

Foot infections may occur from the most minor break in the skin, but typically occur in chronic open foot ulcers.  Ulcers may take a long time to heal and these chronic open wounds may become infected.  Infections may be minor and treated with oral antibiotics or be quite significant or “limb-threatening” and require hospitalization, IV antibiotics, and surgery.  Amputation is often the result of ignored and chronic foot infections.
